GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is accountable for imple    menting the supplier quality assurance program to continually improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance within Service Solutions.    This position develops supply-base capabilities, resolves product problems, and provides technical interface between SPX and the supplier. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.       Support implementation of supplier quality management strategies.  Identify and develop tools, metrics to manage suppliers domestically and internationally.

2.       Actively participate in supplier qualification process and supplier audits.

3.       Resolve problems to improve supplier process capability.

4.       Train and audit to QS and ISO quality system requirements, when necessary.

5.       Oversee and improve new product qualification and receiving inspection methodologies.

6.       Issue and monitor supplier corrective actions.

7.       Monitor measures of supplier performance and drive appropriate action.

8.       Provide quality systems and manufacturing quality support as required, including manufacturing and receiving inspection.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1.       Minimum 3-5 years engineering experience in a production and/or supplier quality-engineering role with “hands on” experience in several of the following disciplines: machining, forging, welding, finishing, electronics, and plastics  

2.       Good Interaction skills in Team environment.

3.       Good communication, presentation, planning and organizational skills.

4.       PC skills: Word, e-mail, Excel, Power Point, Access, Internet.

5.       Experience in leading supplier audits to ISO quality systems or equivalent.

6.       Good problem solving skills.

7.       Self-starter, excellent time management skills and initiative.

8.       Experience with corrective action processes.

9.       Hands on experience using inspection measuring tools and equipment.

10.   Work with receiving and manufacturing inspection team to pursue nonconformance with specific suppliers. 

11.   Position requires extensive travel and some weekends to support workload.

 

PREFERRED

 

1.       ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Auditor (CQA).

2.       4 year Engineering degree

3.       Knowledge of product development processes and preventive QE techniques (FMEA, Control Plans, flow diagrams, PPAP, QFD, DFM, DFA, SPC, metrology and gage R&R, GD&T).

4.       Knowledge of QS and ISO quality systems.

5.       Statistical background a plus.

6.       Lean Mfg experience a plus.

7.       Familiarity with plastic injection molding and packaging.

8.       International experience a plus.

9.       Mandarin or Spanish a plus.
